I am sorry but those are dangerous! I am old and I have difficulty walking and they are a major trip hazard. When I use my cane, the tip looses footing and I've almost fallen. Stores now are surrounded with it so there is no way in or out without tripping. Why don't the young people that pass these laws test this stuff? THINK! It is very difficult to push a cart full of groceries for old people as it is, but with that stuff it is painful to our joints and back. The disabilities act did us no favors in the least but increased the incidence of injury!

He's going up against the Shoe Regime and it ain't what is used to be...

I would love to see downtown revitalized...you have to get rid of the shelters (River House), the dollar store and rooming houses to do so... See Fairfield, CT or even Melrose, MA for great downtown references....and lastly your a hockey guy like Scanlon how about you actually get us a rink that has been promised for the past 20 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Rossetti family and have been since 1981. I was the first responder from the Scottsdale PD to Suzanne's apartment for a missing person report. Within a few minutes of my arrival, after talking to the family, I knew immediately that this was not someone who merely walked away from her family obligations and did not meet her family at the airport as planned. We were able to start the investigation immediatly as an abduction and alert the police from the nearby city where she was taken. I have never been able to forget that scene or the family of this wonderful young woman.

Hi. I live in Vancouver. I just saw a large (over 2 ft x 1 ft) photo of employees of the United Shoe Manufacturing Company, posing in front of the Beverly Golf and Tennis Clubhouse, in an old wooden frame with a descriptive name plate. It was probably taken around the 10's or 20's judging by the sepia-tone, but I didn't look that closely at it because I didn't know anything about the company until I went on-line. Is there a person who is keen on local history, or someone at the Clubhouse itself, who I could alert when it's posted for sale - they could then judge the quality and presentation which seemed excellent on first appearances, but I'd have another closer look if there is any interest. I agree, we the community of Beverly and all who enjoy using the water front and pier should ban together and keep the water front FREE and opening to its primary use, fishing and boating. I have enjoyed fishing the pier for many years and was in shock when I recently went and found it was closed down by the harbor master. When I questioned the on duty harbor master, he was abrasive and acted like I shouldn't even dare ask questions of him. I checked around with some fellow pier users and confirmed what the prior writer stated, the owner of the Black Cow has complainted to the harbor masters office and in an effect to keep him happy, they have restricted the rights of everyone else and are now closing the pier to its primary purpose, fishing. Please attend all town meetings and support Beverly Port Marinas efforts to keep the Black Cow out and to assure our pier and water front remains open unrestricted from its intended and customary use, fishing and boating.

The owner of the Black Cow should be KEPT OUT OF THE BEVERLY harbor area. He is clearly against the designated use of the area for fishing and boating uses. In late June 2010 he has pulled strings with the Beverly Habor masters office which is located at the base of the proposed Beverly Black Cow location and has got them to shut down the local fishing pier. The Black Cow owner has parked his boat near by to the fishing pier overlooking the proposed Black Cow location and doesn't appreciate the local fishing population from fishing from the pier near his boat and has pulled strings to have the pier closed every night at 10pm, right around the time the pier normally just comes to life with fisherman from all around the area. I have been fishing this pier for years and it has always been opened 24 hours a day, as are most piers, but only since the arrival of the Black Cow owner has the pier been roped off and ordered closed by the harbor master, after the black cow owner Complaints about the fishing from the pier. I URGE everyone to back and support Beverly Port Marina in preventing the Black Cow from opening in Beverly and restoring the publics rights to use the pier and water front that was desinated for the publics use.

Mr. Patel didn't say anything about making it a Dunkin' Donuts, but he did say he plans to have a small coffee shop inside the store. Also, he said the store would be more like a small grocery store than a convenience store, so as not to duplicate what he's offering at his Stop & Go down the street.

Paul, did Amit Patel have any interest in making it a Dunkin Donuts instead? I think that would make more sense. He already owns a convenience store just down the road in the plaza. This seems redundant. (Not that I'm not happy. At least it is re-opening and not vacant.) Also, the parking lot is perfectly made for a drive through. It would get many Montserrat Train customers in the morning if he went that route instead.
